MA Design By Practice, University of Wales Newport A Soapbox Moment – Support the End-of-Year Show!
April 15, 2010
The MA/MFA Design by Practice course facilitates a dynamic and forward thinking intellectual climate where students are encouraged to reappraise their own practice and to develop their own future-sensitive design research. The central agenda of this course is to identify, accommodate and distribute emerging creative excellence, developing the role of design in making sense of the many ways that technology might develop. Critical debate is invigorated and risks are taken empowering design with qualities of social, economic and environmental transformation.
Versatile, interdisciplinary perspectives advance radical and experimental practices where the creative and problem solving community provides students with the opportunity to grow into creative professionals with a sophisticated understanding of culture and the economy.
The course, its students and its output presents a wealth of opportunity where the university communicates its message of new found thinking and forward striving strategies. The end-of-course show should be heralded as a significant entry within the year planner as it represents the culmination of all of the above (and more). The event should be celebrated and supported in order to build its reputation, its scholarly standing and to showcase the breadth, quality and diversity of its output. Support the End-of-Year Show!
